About Us
No Borders Manchester is an activist group which aims to challenge border regimes in the UK and across Europe. Formed originally as Manchester Refugee Rights Collective in 2018, we rebranded as No Borders Manchester in 2020 following our No Borders Day Festival.
We are an abolitionist collective that organises in solidarity with migrants and refugees locally in Greater Manchester, nationally, and with those internationally resisting border-related violence. Our work takes many forms but is always grounded in collaboration with local groups, principles of care, and a model of solidarity, not charity.
Current Initiatives
Campaigns to raise awareness of and challenge Home Office policies, including the Nationality and Borders Act.
Fundraisers in partnership with Help Refugees, Paris Ground Support and Refugee and Asylum Seeker Participatory Action Research.
A funding pot for those with No Recourse to Public Funds, founded during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The No Borders Zine, which exists as a space to explore art, writing, and creative expression relating to the Hostile Environment.
Community projects such as a signing support network and coffee mornings.
Past Initiatives
We previously ran English classes for various levels, first at a local library and then online. We have currently paused these sessions due to low capacity - please get in touch if you’d like to volunteer for them.
In March 2020, we ran our first day-long No Borders Festival, where we were joined by many different Manchester community organisations, speakers and artists. Whilst physical space has always been integral to our work, in the current global pandemic we have been shifting a lot of our work online. Through the No Borders Zine, we hope to keep our discussions alive and continue to work with the activist networks we have established in the last few years.
